Getting Ready For A Girls Night Out

Getting Ready For A Girls Night Out

This was my first attempt at using watercolour pencils on a portrait style piece of work.

The body of the work was done using a B graded pencil and was originally going to remain in just pencil, but I took the plunge and tried watercolour as well.

For a first attempt I was pleased with the outcome, although I think a better grade of paper shall be used next time.

***Note from Kerry:
Wow Mif! This is terrific, I love it!

Yes, the quality of paper does make a big difference when you do watercolor - according to my Mum, anyway.

Dear Anonymous, thank you very much for your kind words, the picture came from a calendar that my wife has hung in her craft room at home, I must admit, that I am also quite proud of this piece, however, even though I know we should not really compare ourselves to other artists, I visited an art exhibition in a nearby town called Lichfield in England, some of the work there was absolutely stunning, and I cannot help but wish I had just an ounce of their talent.....ah well, keep persevering eh!

I would be so proud if I had drawn this! I think it's absolutely beautiful and deservesto be put in a frame and hung on a wall. Did you do this from a photograph?
