Puma or Cougar

This is one of my Big Cat portraits from my Big Cat Dairy collection of Extreme Photo Realistic Art..

As you can see I used some stippling on my cat portrait..

This is another A1 drawing, I used my favorite Derwent Inktense Pencils, some Acrylic and Ink..

Thank you all who look at this artwork..

Cheers from,
Lilly and Cats..

Note from Kerry:
Hi Lilly
This is absolutely stunning!! I love it so much.

Your stippling is also well done, it's good to see you like using it, too.

One of these days I'm going to invest in some of those inktense pencils, they are beautiful.

All Eyes

I found this in an old drawing book and loved it. So I had to try it. It is in colored pencil.

This is one of my first drawings I ever did.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Cindy
Your drawing is great, it's no wonder you are a good artist -- you would have been greatly encouraged once you produced this. I like it.

I did this after the Christmas puppy(: it is for my math teacher, who has a dog like this:P
I love it, and so did she(:(:

Note from Kerry:

Hi Lauren,
I don't doubt your teacher loved this -- not only is the drawing very beautiful (awww, he is gorgeous!) but it's the thought behind the drawing. I think to gift a drawing is the most precious thing.

My Cousin's Lurcher In Pastels

My Cousin's Lurcher In Pastels

This is my cousins lurcher Tak. Tak has alot of lovely markings on his coat and has more fur than my own dog.

I used soft pastels and pastel pencils to draw him. It was drawn from a photograph.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Sandra, this picture looks fantastic. It's very well done. It's good to see you are still enjoying your artwork.

The Little Buck

Little Buck

Little Buck

I think this is my 3rd drawing. (I'll quit counting, when I get better and it doesn't matter, lol.) This precious little fawn lost it's mother and I took care of him for a few days.

Note from Kerry:

Ah, I thought I spotted an animal lover!
You can keep counting as much as you like Ellen, if I were you I'd brag lots about these drawings! The best thing you can do when you are a beginner artist is to draw things you love. Your fawn drawing is remarkable.

Love of Penguins

I love penguins! But my favorite animals are cats, and White tigers ^_^!

Let me hear from all of you cat lovers!

**Note from Kerry:
Hi Anna! Your drawings are really good. What medium have you used here? Is that pastels?

Update: Anna wrote to me to say that she used some inexpensive color pencils from Walmart. Thanks Anna.

Mr G Raffe

Mr G Raffe

I wanted to do a picture for my son so decided on this one. I copied it from a calendar photograph.

Even though I enjoyed doing this picture, I think I prefer to do portraits. This picture was done in soft pastels.

***Note from Kerry:
Bella, this is lovely! Good job. I love your title.

Red Fox In Color

by michele chambers
(granton ontario canada)

Red Fox

Red Fox

I drew this picture last Friday. I used an hb to sketch it in, then I used prismacolor pencils - dark brown, black, white, beige, cool gray 90% and 30% henna, burnt ochre, pumpkin orange, mineral orange and cloud blue.

I kept my pencils very sharp, I used stonehenge paper as I really like it when using colored pencil.

By the way Kerry, thanks for this wonderful website. I get lots of info from your newsletters and get to look at some great art by others.

***Note from Kerry:
Thank you, Michele, for showing your beautiful works of art here. Your fox drawing is stunning and I really appreciate the way you share the tools and colors that you use. The greatest gift is in helping others.

Bubbles

by Roy
(Ashford, Kent, England)

Bubbles

Bubbles

Graphite and coloured pencil on paper trimmed to size (161mm x 290mm). Yes, her markings did make her make really look like this - aka 'Groucho'. Despite that, she was the most affectionate cat - no longer here sadly.

Upsized from a very small photgraph taken when I spotted her bird watching from the lily patch.

My first attempt at A4 and using colour (which I'm not comfortable with - I think there is too much left to explore with graphite yet - still trying to find my way! - my 3rd drawing).

***Note from Kerry:
Roy, you've done really well for your first go with color. There's no harm in experimenting, it's something we all do and it's all in good fun. I like the perspective you have chosen with this one.

This is my second drawing. After deciding to start drawing, I easily found tons of pictures of my furry babies for models!

This is precious Chloe, a Border Collie, when she was a baby.

Note from Kerry:

Another great effort Ellen, absolutely incredible for a second attempt! Chloe looks so adorable.

African Penguin

by snapple
(hong kong)

African Penguin

African Penguin

There are African Penguin that most people don't know about, as everyone seems to be more focus on those penguins living around the glacier area.

Yet, having said the above, this drawing does look a bit awkward, as it's rather strange to find penguin in mountain areas.

I wanted to draw more stones around sea shore.. but I might have used the wrong color, and it's not coming out that way!

Anyways, I'd still like to share it, and welcome any comments. (I am new to this site, have been trying to draw since beginning of this month, so, it's less than 30 days.)

***Note from Kerry:
Thanks for such a great story, Snapple! Aw, they are so cute - I think you've done a terrific job with your drawing! Gosh, is it really less then 30 days? That's fantastic!

The Bandana Queen

by Ellen Brown
(Sealy, Texas)

She's in love with bandanas!

She's in love with bandanas!

This is another practice drawing of my grand puppy Chloe. She's a year old in this drawing and loves wearing bandanas! I have been using photographs to copy from for my drawings.
I just started in November, so I still have a loong way to gooooo.

artist
Note from Kerry:

Hi Ellen,
Isn't she just so beautiful? I think you are going to be a mighty fine artist if this is the quality you can produce when you are just starting out! You've done a great job and I love those eyes!
