Wise Owl

by Kenneth Nelson
(North Yorkshire)

Wise Owl

Wise Owl

I love to draw birds and flowers, normally with coloured pencils.

This sketch was copied from one of my four year old daughters colouring books.

I started it while on holiday last year and I have added more to it each time I take a break away. I feel that it may be unfinished; however I am worried that I may spoil it if I start to add anymore.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Kenneth, it looks finished to me and I think it's very well done.

Most artists worry over when artwork is finished or not. I think you just have to declare it done! Maybe you've enjoyed it so much, you don't want this little project to end. Solution? Start another.

Don't forget to put the start and finish dates on the back of your owl. Write where you found the image and then sign your lovely drawing.

Hawk On a Branch

Hi ADD family, I also drew this Hawk from the same book, called "How to Draw Animals".

I did try my best to draw like the artist from the book. I use hb + 6b pencil.

***Note from Kerry:
Sergio, you must be proud of this! It looks like it would have taken some time to complete and it is very good.

Hey my friend;

I was looking at this drawing again and I see a dog's head. The Hawk's right claw is on the dog's head.

Plus in between the claws and just left of the right claw is the face of a little boy.

I hope that others will study this great drawing of your and let us know if they see these also.

Thanks for your drawings, they are really GRAND!

Marty!

Gold finch

(Victor NY)

Large image

Large image

I haven't posted anything in a while. My husband had a hip replacement and things have been a little hectic! But he is doing fine now, and I am ready to post new pics.
This was done in Bristol vellum paper. 2h,3b,4b graphite pencils. I did blending with a tortillion.
My first time doing a bird, too!

Note from Kerry:
Hi Cindy,
Is your drawing thumbnail size? It has turned out really small - I am as blind as a bat so I'm struggling to make it out. If you have a bigger scan, I can resize it for you if you like?
Edited...
Cindy, thank you for sending in another image - yes, this is much better and it's clear to see now what a wonderful job you have done with this drawing! It's absolutely perfect, thank you!

Glad to hear your husband is on the mend - these men sure do keep us on our toes, don't they?

I keep picturing curled toes. Are your thumbs opposable, Michael? Finches are very tiny and this one surely is. I'll bet he looks great larger.

by: Sandra Busby

Hi Marc
I really like this. I think it's beautifuly drawn. Often, drwings done from photographhs, which I assume this one was, can look quite sterile, but you have managed to capture the Seagulls movement really well. I am just waiting for him to fly off!
I'd be really proud of this if I had drawn it.

Text Book Illustration....
by: Michael Betz

Very nice work Sushanta. This looks like a professional book illustration. You asked for any mistakes...I am not sure if this is really a mistake or just the angle we are viewing them at....but the swan's left wing in a couple of the drawings appears to be just slightly out of proportion from the right wing. In #s 2, 4, and 5 they appear to be good proportion from one another, but in #s 1 and 6 the left wing appears to be slightly smaller than the right...no biggie.....I would not have seen it if I hadn't studied the drawing to fulfill your request. All in all it is a fantastic drawing...very well executed, and very well thought out.

very creative
by: Sandra Busby

Hi Marc.
Some people can draw what they see, but you have the added gift of imagination which takes art to a whole new level. You obviously have a creative mind as well as creative hands. I am really enjoying looking at your drawings.
Imagination is something I need to work on! At the moment I am still getting to grips with basic technique!

The Rooster

by Kathy Guzman
(Camden NJ 08103)

For Julio Cesar Torres

For Julio Cesar Torres

First of all, i would like to dedicate this picture to my grandpa "Julio Cesar Torres". My grandpa passed away when i was only 5 months old, but i knew i was someone very special to him.

I drew this picture thinking of him and how he loved roosters. So this picture means so much to me and I'm sure it would have meant alot to him.

In loving memory of Julio Cesar Torres. R.I.P (papa). We love you!!

***Note from Kerry:
Kathy, your story tells me you are a special person. Your Papa would have been so proud of you, knowing you have such an artistic streak.

I love seeing what you can produce. Thanks for sending this in. You are doing so very well for someone who has just started to draw! Keep going, your love of art shows through in your work.

Bird On A Wire

Bird on a Wire

Bird on a Wire

It's been some time since I have put anything on the site so I thought it was time I posted something!

This is the view from my window at work - Obviously I couldn't draw the whole thing while at work so I drew this from several sketches I did and some reference photos.

I drew this using ordinary graphite pencils on A3 Cartridge paper.

My favorite bit is the little bird on the telegraph wire - I named him Geoff!

***Note from Kerry:
This is such a beautiful work of art, Sandra. Congratulations on your patience and attention to detail. It's very well done.

I like the way you did the wire but it's all so good!
