Realistic & Cartoony Pig

by Jim Corbett
(Seongnam, South Korea)

Realistic Pig and Cartoon Pig Drawings

Realistic Pig and Cartoon Pig Drawings

I drew these in my animal croquis book. The croquis book contains a realistic drawing. Beside the drawing, the sketch is broken down into four basic steps.
I used those steps to draw the realistic-looking pig at the top. To put her in a natural setting, I added short lines to indicate the ground, a few blades of grass, a trough and some water dripping from the pig's mouth. Finally, I put a lot of tone on the pig by using various pencil stokes.

To create the cartoony pig on the bottom, I exaggerated the body, the snout and added three points along the bottom of the mouth to show sharp teeth. I also put a bigger smile on the pig to show that it she is enjoying her meal.

**Note from Kerry:
Thanks for these Jim, they are so cool! Also, thanks for taking the time to give us the details of how you went about the drawings. It sure is appreciated.

Creative Me - Artist Needed

by Joseph F. Corso
(Toms River, NJ, USA)

I wanna be a Creative Me Artist

I wanna be a Creative Me Artist

We had an Art Sale to generate revenue for Community Medical Center in Toms River for "Creative Me - Art for Oncology Patients". We had a few artists leave - among them the Nurse/Artist who founded the program.

In an effort to find new artists, I placed ads in newspapers. Then in a stroke of momentary genius, I talked Traci (the Social Worker) into letting me put some flyers up. Well these flyers generated more interest than the art work itself.

Friends for life - Timon and Pumba

Friends for life - Timon and Pumba

Timon and pumba are two great characters which cheer up my mood at any point of the day, after tom n jerry. It is this liking which made me pick up these two characters for sketching.

I was little bit doubtful in getting the relative sizes of timon and pumba right as that is the place where I generally screw up. But, I was pretty happy after the shading was complete.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Abhishek
I know these 2 dudes and they are very funny. You've done a great job with good details.

Funny Baby Elephant

My first Drawing

My first Drawing

One day i saw a a baby elephant cartoon programme on television. I was so fascinated by the character that I thought of drawing his picture. Although I am not so good at drawing I took a pencil and started making the image.

To my surprise, after an hour I saw exactly the same image i saw on the television. I was so happy that i found a new quality in myself. From then onwards i started drawing sketches of whatever i feel fascinated with.

***Note from Kerry:
Mridula, your drawing is so cute! You have every right to be proud of your work. Keep drawing!

2001 Bionicles and some fish

by Perry
(Crane, Texas)

Fish and Bionicles

Fish and Bionicles

I first drew this drawing on a paper book cover on my math book from school. So I decided to cut it off and tape a new sheet of paper to the cover of my math book, so I could draw a new cover on.

I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my drawing, I wanted to scan it on my computer and set it as a desktop background because I knew it would look cool. Then I remembered the website allaboutdrawings.com. So I went there and submitted it.

Now what you see in the drawing is two 2001 bionicles, I also included the fish to be more creative. I don't need to tell you what kind of bionicles they are because they are labelled.

In the top right corner of the paper where it says "Dan was here," that was my brother in-law Daniel, he asked me if he could do that.

I gave one of the fish bubbles to make it look like they were kinda underwater.
