A Spring Day in Okinawa

My mother and sister in the 1950's sitting outside on a sunny day in Okinawa. Another drawing from a photograph, this one was really hard around the eyes, nose and mouths, because the photo wasn't really clear to see them. (Of course, I have trouble with those parts anyway!) lol

You managed to portray the photo in graphite perfectly, Ellen. It doesn't matter if you couldn't see those details very well because distance makes things less distinct anyway. It only takes a couple of thoughtful strokes here and there and our imagination fills in the gaps.

My Thumbnail Drawings

I was in a little slump with my drawing and Kerry showed us some of her thumbnail drawings, this prompted me to start drawing again. It was something I truly enjoyed.

This is my first sheet, 1" x 1" used this size because of the paper I was using already had a grid on it. Also they were all done with a #2 pencil.

A Siamese Dancer

Respectful Blossom

I was interested in Chinese symbols and the prettiest one that i could find was the one meaning 'respect'. I love Cherry Blossoms and learnt how to draw them this morning because i think they accompany the symbol beautifully!

A Mouse On A Rock

Here is a drawing that a friend of ours done. He has watched me draw and he wanted to learn to draw. He is 12 years old and this is his first drawing. I showed him how to freehand and he also used a mechanical pencil.

A Sitar

Teddy Bear

I was in the basement of my house and saw my old teddy bear lying on the ground and saw the different shapes that could make up his figure.

I decided to give it a go and I think he turned out pretty good even though the copied image isn't as good as the actual image.

Human Eye
