Cherries

Cherries
I hate to sit and watch TV, so instead, I draw. I am going to take my little drawings and turn into small gifts for friends and family.
I did this drawing of a bird sitting on a cherry branch in colored pencil.
***Note from Kerry: That is exactly the type of gift that I treasure, Michelle, so I hope your recipients get the same pleasure from your thoughtfulness. This drawing is gorgeous!

Multi colors
Describing this is hard to do, so look and see.
***Note from Kerry: Hi Deanna, It looks like a Mandala. Did you create it yourself or did you use a pattern?
It would be great if you could write more than one line please Deanna, just to keep within submission guidelines.

Memories...
by Sandra Busby
(United Kingdom)
Wooden Boat On The Shore
Okay, this isn't a drawing so maybe I shouldn't have included this, but it was my very first attempt at the next step - using Watercolour.
I took my little boy, his friend and our dog to the beach and came across an old wooden boat on the shore. It was along the same stretch of beach that my Nan, who has now passed away, used to take myself and my sister for walks when we were little. We used to search for slipper shells.
I sketched the scene and then took it home to paint. I had got myself some Watercolours some time before but had always been scared of using them since I knew nothing about painting other than what I had learned by reading various books.
Although it is littered with mistakes, I learned so much from doing it and I enjoyed every brush stroke!
Note from Admin: Hi Sandra, I think this is fantastic! For your very first attempt at watercolor, I am absolutely in awe of your talent.
This painting also shows that your sketching skills must be pretty good!

Central Hall
by Yvonne Johnson
(Durham)
I saw this picture and had a go, I found this so difficult.
Note from Kerry: Hi Yvonne This is a typical picture in perspective so no wonder you thought it was difficult. Most of us avoid them like the plague! However, you've done a good job - it's so neat, great work.

Moon Fairy Painted
by Michael Betz
(Las Vegas)
Original drawing was done by Kitty
A while ago I had asked Kitty if she minded if I colored one of her drawings in my Photoshop... she thankfully gave me permission to do so... I chose to use her Moon Fairy drawing. Here is the painted version. I hand painted this in Photoshop using about 11 layers, a couple of blur effects and a lens flare for the gleam on the moon. I hope you like it Kitty...and thanks for letting me do it......
Note from Kerry: Wow, it looks lovely! I think Kitty would be very proud of it. Great job, Michael, you've done well. You picked my fav color for the dress too!

Forest land

Forest land
It's me again! I decided to make another drawing and post it on this site. What do you think?
It took me 3 hours to make it. At first it was a sketch, but then my friend said i should use my oil pastels to make it colorful. so, thats exactly what i did!
I really like how the colors blend in with each other. Not one of my best pieces, but i think it's ok!
***Note from Kerry: Hi Francesca! Thanks for sharing your latest creation with us. I'm very happy that you have a love of art. I see a waterfall and some rapids. Your colors are bright and I'm sure your friend will like this.
I have tried oil pastels and I think they are difficult to work with, so you've done just fine. Please keep drawing. Remember, with each drawing, you will get better and better!

My daughter took this picture and I tried to recreate it. It's one of those pics that looks great from a distance and not so great up close lol,,,
Really, I put this as my screen saver on my laptop and today people coming into my class thought it was a snapshot lol,, hmm is this a good thing or bad?
***Note from Kerry: Hi Nasima I'd say it's a very good thing -- it's high praise indeed. Most paintings look very different up close but they're not intended to be viewed that way. You've done a great job.

Pastel Experiment
by rachel
This was done with oil pastels, which I found pretty hard to use. Any tips would be appreciated :) Anyway, this was inspired by Frank Miller, who did the artwork for Sin City. I just really love his style and wanted to try something out. I really want to get better and I think I need all the help I can get, so.....
Note from Kerry: Rachel, I think you have managed the oil pastels brilliantly! This is very good! I'm sorry I can't advise you with this medium, I tried it once and didn't like it. I'll leave it to the pros to help you out.

Painted Skull
by rachel
(england)
This doesn't really have a story. Its not so good but I wasn't in a great mood at the time.
I used watercolour, acrylic and a biro.
Please don't judge it too harshly but I just wanted to show something a bit different.
***Note from Kerry: Hi Rachel Believe it or not, there are folks around who love this type of artwork! Even in a dark hour the artist inside of you prevails.

Amethyst Unraveled
by Cindy
((Bloomington, Indiana USA) )
This is my first attempt at abstract free flow thought using texture in acrylic and watercolor paint and amethyst stones.
As you can see, I like the color purple! I stared at an empty canvas for 2days and then just went for it!
Abstract isn't for everyone but then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I hope you like it! Your friend, Cindy
***Note from Kerry: Cindy, I am a purple/pink person too, so I like anything that contains those colors!
I'm not an abstract fan and I haven't tried it for myself but there are a few that I admire.

Thanks, Melissa in Arizona
**Note from Kerry: Hi Melissa, I love your drawing! The colors look good and it's very interesting. You've made a great start at your new pastime.
