The Ape

by Joseph

The Ape.

The Ape.

I try to see the best in a photo or magazine, and I try to get as much detail as I can within it. At the end of the drawing, I do like to stand back and say "Well, I did that."

With animals, there is that look they give - "There's no problem here mate."

***Note from Kerry:

Hi Joseph, I love this!! It's great work. I enjoyed your story too, thank you.

Close-up Elephant

Close-up of an Elephant

Close-up of an Elephant

Elephants are incredible animals. I found a few interesting facts online,
1 - Elephants cry, play, have incredible memories, and they even laugh .

2 - Elephants grieve at a loss of a stillborn baby, a family member, and in many cases other elephants.

3 - Elephants are sensitive to fellow animals where if a baby complains, the entire family will rumble and go over to touch and caress it.

And these are just a few of the things I found out about them. I had a ton (lol) of fun drawing this picture. And it really was one of my easier projects.

***Note from Kerry:
Thanks for the great story Patty! It makes drawing more interesting when you research your subject beforehand. Somehow your feelings get transferred to the drawing.

Sleepy Lion

This is a drawing i did not too long ago, after having a month or two out from drawing i decided to do one again. After searching a long time on the internet looking for a lion or another big cat, I found this beautiful sleeping lion so i thought id give it a go.

Considering i haven't drawn for over a month when i did this, I'm very pleased with it! :)

I used graphite pencils ranging from an F' to a 9B'
please leave your comments on my drawing, if possible tell me how i could have done it better ?!
thank youuu! :)

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Jordan, he's perfect! You've done a great job. Please keep drawing.

You have done the effects (of the fur) very well and great work on the eyes. Your teacher must have been impressed with your work. Good job!

How Many Legs?

How Many Legs?

I found this while doing an image search on optic illusions. I wasn't able to see who the original was from, but this I found on about.com. And from the looks of what I've seen just in the first few pages I'm gonna have a lot of fun with these, while not working on portrait drawings.
Enjoy!

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Patty! It's great to see you are having some fun with illusions, they are so interesting.

Hello Sumit:
Well I know Kerry isn't the only one scared, wooow I am too.
Just gaze at his eyes and then take off running, that is if you can out run him or her...
Great drawing and I love the way you put your love and soul into your grand artwork.
