Johny depp (my 3rd sketch)

I'm 17 years old, I am passionate about sketching n drawing from 2nd standard. Now i got crazy about sketching some of my fav celebs. So i tried 2 sketch them.

I used only 3B,6B and mechanical pencil to draw it. This sketch took most of the sketching skills like hatching, scribbling, blending, strokes. though it took me more than 5 hours to draw it but in the end i was a bit happy with it.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Gopesh,
Thank you for sharing your brilliant drawing here, it is simply amazing. You should be very proud of yourself, great work!

Screen Legend

Screen Legends (MARILYN MONROE)

Screen Legends (MARILYN MONROE)

This drawing was a commission from a customer that wanted some of the screen legends. These included Marilyn Monroe, Bridget Bardot, Sofia Loren and Elizabeth Taylor to name a few.

The sad part of all is that she cancelled her order before I had completed the first one. Marilyn belongs to me now. Heh heh

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Gavin
Your portrayal of Marilyn is just stunning. I'm sure you'd find a buyer if you ever wanted to part with it.

Marilyn Monroe II

Well here is yet another attempt at doing a portrait.

This is something I am still doing a lot of practice on for doing a live model and it is definitely not something I'm ready for yet. Enjoy

***Note from Kerry:
Hi John, it seems to be you are a very harsh self critic. I am proud that you have the nerve to show your practice drawings. Actually, I think it's very good.

I used to watch little House on the Prairie, and this is one of the characters. I did hate her but I always wanted to have such hair.

***Note from Kerry:
That's funny, Lucia, at least you are honest! I do recall she was a bit mean.

Your drawing is very good and wonderful to study. Great work!

The Duke

The Duke

The Duke

In grammar school I loved to draw but once in high school the desire disappeared.

Now at retirement age, lately I can't seem to stop drawing. Several weeks ago I started drawing my e-pals online just to have something to chat about and now, I've fallen in love with drawing all over again.

I'm sure I need lots of help with my techniques. What I do is draw a picture with a regular #2 pencil and then trace over them with a gel pen. I use the gel pen because it works great on my computer when I use it to paint them. Here's a picture of John Wayne that I drew using this technique.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Carol, I am a Duke fan so I love your drawing! Thanks for sharing your technique, it's great.

Kathryn Heigl

Kathryn Heigl

Kathryn Heigl

I noticed at a school open house, the students had taken a black and white photo of a persons face from a magazine and cut it right down the middle. They taped half of it to a page of drawing paper and then drew in the missing half.

Altho I didn't think I would be very good at it since I simply can't draw faces (or hands!) very well, but I was surprised at what I was able to do . Especially since most of my drawings look pretty childish. But I found it to be fun and great practice !

Kim

***Note from Kerry:
Gee Kim, you have done such a good job! Really, it looks like the whole photo with some reflection on it! I am impressed.

Thank you for sharing this idea.

Hi Ken,
It's so great to hear from you again!

Your drawing is fantastic, I can't help but really like Captain Sparrow.

Did you miss drawing? I know I do if I don't get a chance to put pencil to paper.

John Banner

John Banner

John Banner was born into a Jewish Family in Austria-In 1940.

He was working with a comedy troupe in Switzerland when he found he could not return to Austria because of being Jewish - He migrated to the United States where he served bravely in The Army Air Corps during WW2-

He was in over 40 feature films and many TV shows. He is probably best remembered as Sgt. Schultz on "Hogan's Heroes"--His catch phrase was."I know nothing-Nothing-Nothing!"

John passed away in 1973

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Dennis
I recognized Schultzie straight away, also one of my favorite characters.

I'm trying to work out which medium you used, it looks like it could be done in chalk/pastel or is it water color? It doesn't matter, you've done a great job all the same.

Marilyn

Marilyn

As we all know, she is a classic and considered by many to be the perfect image of a woman.

Well, I gave this my best shot because doing portraits truly is not a strong point for me.

I hope you like it.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi John, they're not my strong point either but I love the challenge!

I think your Marilyn is beautiful, I love the simplicity of your drawing, I think this is tastefully done.

I found a photo on the web that suggested this portrait.

She was so beautiful, but she seemed to have some mental problems.

I have shown this to people from 8 to 80, and everyone knows who she is!

***Note from Kerry:
Rico, this is really good. You have managed to suggest Marilyn perfectly. It's beautiful.
