Haley Williams

by Lauren Sauers
(wilmington N.C.)

One of my most favorite singers of all time, in the band Paramore... i love her:) its not my best portrait, but what is used to really make you notice is her crazy hair:P shes always dying it and in this one its multiple colors (though its in black and white).

For this i used my sketch pad, my reg. #2 pencil, and my own finger to smooth it out, which are the things i use in all of my drawings, I've never used blending stumps in my life, and i haven't met anyone who uses the tip of their finger like me:P i made it up(: ive mastered it :P its kind of weird, but HEY it gets the job done, RIGHT? :D

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Lauren,
It sure does get the job done and pretty dang good too! A lot of artists use their fingers for blending but it has a little disadvantage of putting the oil from your skin onto the paper. Supposedly it goes yellow with age -- it's just what I've heard and I believe it.

I think if Haley were to see this, she would love it instantly! You've done a remarkable portrait, good job Lauren.

Haley Williams Singing

by Lauren Sauers
(wilmington N.C.)

this is my haley williams picture #2:) i wanted one of her singing, since she is such a great singer:P i think it turned out great and almost identical to the picture i was working off of. I even added a fun little heart to the cord (mostly to fill up some empty space) :P lol

***Note from Kerry:
Gosh Lauren, that is an excellent drawing! What did you use to get the blacks so black? I think you are an artist who is going to be remembered!

Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin

by Cindy
(Bloomington, Indiana USA)

I've tried many portraits and have struggled getting them to look the way I want them to look...like the person I'm trying to portray.

This is a portrait of Robert Plant, singer for the band Led Zeppelin. I took it from a drawing in a magazine. I think it looks like him (as he is an older man now).

It's done with permacolored pencils on black paper. I ran out of sketch paper and black was all I had left...time to hit the supply store!

Hope you like it...it's different..to say the least!
Your friend,
Cindy

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Cindy,
Your portrait is great! I love seeing different effects and even though I don't really know the lead singer (my son would!) I still like your artwork. It's very interesting, thanks for sharing it.

Basically, I tried to make this drawing as life-like as possible and highly detailed.

It took me about 3 days from a picture off the internet!

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Wynn, this is definitely life-like and ... wow! Good job! I love the effect you managed for the cigarette smoke.

I began drawing a little more during American Idol season 8.

Adam was my favorite to win, but came in second.

Here is a sketch I did of him from a picture that was taken during the Good Morning America show.

Hope you enjoy

Jeff

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Jeff, I watched American Idol too, and I immediately recognized Adam in your drawing. He was a really nice person. You have done a fantastic job with this - congratulations!
