Somewhere Over There

"Somewhere Over There"

This is a pencil drawing that I drew last Spring. I love playing around with drawing trees. There was no real forethought...just started drawing a palm tree, of a different kind. Once the palm tree was drawn, I added in the background.

I submitted this picture to a rug hooking site, and one lady asked if she could hook it into a rug...in sepia. In her interpretation, she saw the eye of God watching out over us. It will be entitled "The Eye of God". She also stated the picture reminded her of a spiritual drawing, drawings made by the Quakers, which prompted me to do some research on that particular subject matter. Quite interesting. So, I thought I would share...

Interesting how different people view pictures in such different ways.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Debbie, that's another thing I love about drawing -- we can study them and interpret them uniquely. It is also interesting to see several artists draw the same subject -- they are never alike. It's fascinating stuff!

I love your drawing, too, great work!

I Have The Right To Live

I Have The Right To Live

I like trees because they seem more resigned to the way they have to live than other things do.

***Note from Kerry:
Creative, this is pretty.

A Tree Drawing

A Tree Drawing

This was done a few days ago, out of my head.

I used a 2B pencil the entire time except the 1st outline which was a 2H.

I'm very proud of it, and my family has been very encouraging about it too.

**Note from Kerry:

Good job Andrew, your family can see obvious potential with your art. Keep going, your drawing is great, especially since it's from your mind's eye.

I think you have done a fantastic job with your tree.

My Tree Drawing

My Tree Drawing

I'd like to say that I sat under a tree at home, and I created this picture. However, I'm still learning and I am busy copying pictures from books.

This is part of my artistic schooling and I'm pleased with my drawings so far.

I tend to put in little bits to add a touch of myself in each drawing.

**Note from Kerry:
You're doing very nicely, too. Keep up the good work, Melissa. It's very creative.

White On Black

I know it's another tree, perhaps not that exciting a subject, but I just liked this one when I saw it. So, I thought I would try to give it a little twist.

Any comments welcome.

***Note from Kerry:
Gee Ken, I can see how much you have improved in such a short time. Keep going, I'm very proud of your progress!

Did you do this on black paper or did you get the effects through your image software?

I just saw this lovely photo and had a go at drawing it. It's not nearly as good as the original, but it gave me great pleasure in trying. I will try drawing from my own photo's from now on.

***Note from Kerry:
I think it's very good, Ken. Did you use yellow paper? I like the effect.
