Color Flower

by Jayme Betz
(Las Vegas)

Jayme drew this with her new art supplies. She drew it with her mechanical pencil and colored it with her regular ball point pen and her Crayola Markers.

artist
Note from Kerry:

Hi Jayme,
You are so lucky that your Dad can spot an artist in the making - this is really very, very good. Make sure you keep all of your wonderful artwork, sign it and put the date on the back. In the future, you will be surprised how good you were at such a tender age.

Granny's bluebell beauty

by Diya Nishana
(Hail,Saudi Arabia)

One day, I saw a photo of bluebells. I liked the flowers very much and I wanted to see a real bluebell.

Bluebells do not grow in our area so no one could bring me one. My granny came to know about my wish. So she secretly asked all her friends and at last she got a bluebell bulb. Unbeknown to me, she planted it in a pot and grew it with special care. Within a few months, the bluebell plant grew and flowers appeared.

On my birthday, she plucked a bunch of bluebells and gave it to me as a gift. I became very happy, so I drew them on paper and showed it to her. She liked it very much and she told me about this site. She helped me to sent this drawing to this site! This is the drawing of bluebells my grandma gave me!

artist
Note from Kerry:
Hi Diya!
You must have a very special Granny to go to the trouble of making your wish come true, how lovely!

Your story was simply so beautiful to read. Please thank your Granny for referring you to my site, you have made my day by sending in your terrific drawing and telling such a grand story.

I like your drawing very much and now it holds much more sentiment to me since you have explained why you drew them.

Thank you Diya, thank you Diya's Granny!

I love the fact that you are proud to show off your drawing and that you sound excited about the prospect of learning as you go along. That tells me you are going to do very well. Good job!

Painting Of a Rose

by Lauren Sauers
(wilmington N.C.)

My second painting :)

I've loved to draw and sketch roses and this is the most realistic one I've done :P

I didn't want to just use red so i used yellow for the highlights and purple for the shadows. I don't know if u could notice them in the picture though.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Lauren,
I can see the highlights. You really amaze me, it seems you are a natural artist because you can turn your hand to anything. Congrats!

Hello,
I'm new to using colours, wanted to have a go, this is a sketch, using water coloured pencils, which I've had a couple of goes with, also some acrylic paint, which made also a wash.

Confetti Bouquet

by Robyn Bray
(Memphis, Tennessee)

Confetti Bouquet

Confetti Bouquet

Last winter I was not very well so I sat around a lot... drawing. Most of the drawings had no model, but were just straight from my imagination.

Drawing is soothing for me, so I drew a lot. I use a lot of color for cheer. I do practice drawing using this website, but a lot of times I just go with whimsical freeform.

I used colored pencil to create this confetti bouquet.

***Note from Kerry:
Robyn, it's lovely! I love your title, it suits this drawing so well.

I did this with colored pencils. I am finding that colored pencils and graphite are my favorites.

After I did this, I found that layering the colors make for a more realistic picture.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Cindy
Your drawing is stunning, I love the way you have colored it, good job!

My Wall Flowers

by Helen
(Estonia,Tallinn)

I always look at my bedroom wallpaper and finally I decided to draw it.

I used watercolor paper, then used Acrylic colors.

I love this drawing, it is my favorite at the moment. I hope you like it too.

Best regards
Helen

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Helen
I really like it, it is very frame-able. If I had created this, I'd certainly be showing it to everyone, too. I haven't tried Acrylics yet but it's on my to-do list!

Your painting has been moved to the "Color" section, I hope that's ok with you.

Hi Betty!
Like it? I love it, I'd hang this in my home! It has great wow factor especially since it's a "practice" drawing. You are very talented.

I love roses! They are my favorite flower!

I started drawing when I was 10, and I am now 13. I really enjoy it!

If there are any tips you can offer, that would be wonderful! Thanks!

**Note from Kerry:
If you keep drawing like this, Anna, you'll be giving all of us the tips and techniques! This is so lovely. What pens do you use?

Update: Anna wrote to say she used inexpensive color pencils to do this. Well done.
