Drawings with Prismacolors and KOH-I-NOOR Woodless color pencils. I draw for relaxation therapy. I love to draw flowers!
Note from Kerry: Hi Lori, These are fantastic!! I can't believe you don't show anyone your work - or at least only a selected few get to see it. My favorite would have to be the sunset, it is glorious. I feel pretty honored that you are comfortable sharing it here, thanks Lori.
Thank you SO much Lori. I too have some Lee Hammond books. And Prisma pencils. Now all I need is talent.

Michael,
I started out with her "Big Book of Drawing" I was so in love with her drawings! Then I started watching everything I could find on youtube!
I am now doing her lessons in "Life like drawing in colored pencil" totally easy to follow and such elegant looking "paintings"! lol
Yes, I have to say she is defantly my favorite "living" artist also!

RE COLOR to Sue by: Lori Basting
Dear Sue,
Thank you very much on the compliment, yes I love using color, after using graphite to draw flowers, I of course was not happy because nature paints with beautiful unrestraint!
I will use flowers as an example:
First, I look at close-up photos of flowers specifically, google or bing pictures of flowers and click the images tab. You will find the most breath taking pictures there.
Second, when it comes to rendering a piece in color, your choice in art mediums can be endless, my personal favorite is Prismacolor Colored Pencils and the Kohl pencils. The colors are vibrant and the are easily blendable to create an endless color palatte. ( save your blends on swatches with the pencil brand and color)
Third, I use cold-pressed paper, I suggest Strathmore 400 but there are endless papers available you can learn about them at dickblick.com or misterart.com just to name a few.
Fourth, I watched tips on Youtube by the some of the most talented pencil artist! They are free and are priceless in what they demonstart in color usage and blending! My personal favorite is Lee Hammond - she always has Lesson Books in print which are so easy to understand! I completed my Sunset color drawing from one of Ms. Hammonds lessons! You can find her books at Amazon.com
Remember in art materials when rendering color drawings - you get what you pay for. Prismacolors can be purchased in an affordable set and the palatte of 172 total available colors can be blended to reproduce if your on a budget!
Go for it Sue! I love my colored pencils!
Happy drawing!

nice by: Kerry
Hi Lori
Thanks for not being offended. I don't like rules as much as the next person but sometimes we have to play their game. That's life on the internet. Again, I am really pleased you accepted it in the spirit it was meant, thanks Lori.

Color Pencil people I highly recommend a set they were affordable at Michaels $20.00 for the set. Much cheaper from Amazon.com sellers! Thanks again Michael!
