Half Finished Horse Drawing
Some of you have asked how I did my Drawing of the Horse...I'm not very good at explaining how I do it because I'm not too sure what I do...I just keep putting layers on until it looks right...
I scanned this picture in as I was in the middle of the drawing...(I like to do this so I can look back after and see how it progressed)
...if you look at the neck of the horse you will see the base colour layer I have put on...I am using pastel pencils only....Faber Castell and Derwent brands in particular.
I have only recently started with the pastel pencils after a disastrous effort with Pastels and this horse is my first serious attempt after watching one of Colin Bradley's instructional DVD's...he makes it look so easy but it's not...but he is a very good teacher and I got a tremendous amount from the Instruction...I would recommend any of his DVD's to anyone wanting to have a try at this medium.
I have gone head-long into Pastel pencils in a big way now and am doing all kinds of works...I have just finished a custom Drawing for some friends of their house It's a grade 2 listed building of an old pump house...if I can scan it in somehow I will put it up for you to see how versatile this medium is...but the picture is too big for the scanner...I will take a photo of it instead and hope it does the colours in the Drawing justice.
Happy Drawing, Boshy
