Joseph and the Divine Child
St Joseph is one of only three saints, among hundreds of recognized Christian Saints in the past two thousand years, who is depicted holding the divine child... ( the other two being Anthony of Padua and Mother Mary )
What a wonderful privilege for an unknown illiterate humble carpenter from a small village... to be able to see... feel... and experience the divine mystery in such an intimate familiar wonderful way... in the form of a human child...
A little child is something that spontaneously attracts everything to itself simply by its wholeness, wholesomeness, purity, innocence and playful nature and unconditional love n joy...... and its only purpose in life seems to be to just play and love and delight and be creative and live in the moment...
The image of God as a child is so wonderfully symbolic too, in that... one only needs to see the divine child playing in all forms... ever calling, ever beckoning us to love all.... and to somehow see and feel and somehow intuit and recognize the divine presence in all...
so that our joy may be full and complete...
Just as that quiet simple gentle carpenter-artist did 2000 years ago...
The above drawing was inspired by a painting "Joseph The Guardian" by Kendra Burton.
