Lady In The Sky
This drawing is a response to an inquiry from Patches, if I have anything else I could submit. Well Patches, I have literally hundreds of drawings I've done over the years. Since I first picked up a drawing pad and pencil when I was child I never threw anything that I ever drew.
Unfortunately I no longer have my very first drawing I did when I was 12 years old. My very first drawing was a comic book character called Conan The Barbarian. Over the years it got destroyed and I just couldn't keep it safely stored.
I was only 12 years old when I made the above drawing during the summer of 1988. It was the first illustration that was my own invention and taken from my imagination.
I thought that it would be a good idea to show anybody that is interested in knowing how I received the inspiration for my idea. So I placed the actual photo that is on the left next to my drawing that is obviously on the right (Manipulated them in my PC so that they could fit in a single file.)
I discovered the real photograph inside a small black and white magazine. The printed media was a government publication which served as a W.A. State coastal tourist guide. It was published in 1988 and I found the pamphlet at a gas station while I was vacationing with my family that year.
My skills as an artist have improved immensely beyond those that I possessed all those years ago and I am capable of creating illustrations that are far better than the one I am showcasing here. Although I have created literally hundreds of drawings that are superior in comparison, this one illustration has remained my absolute beloved creation out of all them.
I hope you love this drawing as much as I do and thank you for taking the time to observe it.
***Note from Kerry: It's very creative, thank you Shane. This type of drawing is always intriguing. Well done!
