Newest drawing Looking Good Eyes all aglow Another Eye Doodle

I did this one today. It's a picture of a friend of mine that i have known for 15 years, she's a single mom and just got a job as a realtor and wanted me to do this for her business cards - I am flattered.

I used just a regular #2 pencil and q-tip for shading.

For drawing #2 - Looking Good...

This is another one I did today, again emphasizing the eyes using #2 pencil & qtip for shading.

For drawing #3 - Eyes all aglow...

In this one, I used a #2 pencil, but a heavier technique that almost looks like charcoal.

For drawing #4 - Another Eye Doodle...

I did this eye using a #2 pencil for shading and a black ball point pen for a little more detail.

I hope you enjoy.

I did all 3 of these today (Saturday, April 30, 2011).
They were from magazine ads and I added my flair to them.
All in all, took me a total of 3 hours for all 3.
Hope you all enjoy.

Note from Kerry:
Betsy, you said the magic word... "enjoy" -- and yes, I did enjoy viewing them, very much. Wow, 3 hours for all 3, that's quite an achievement. They're lovely, thank you.

These 2 have the emphasis on the eyes, as if they are following you.

More Portraits

I did these 2 portraits today (6/2/2011). Each one took about 1/2 hour.
I used a regular #2 pencil. The paper is more like newsprint rather than sketchbook so it doesn't forgive easily.

Note from Kerry:
Hi Betsy,
I think you have your portrait drawing down to a fine art and I'm pretty sure you'd get it right even if you drew with paint on cement! I love looking at your drawings and I love to know you still find time to do them.

Drawing of a Friend
This drawing of a friend was done with a #2 pencil. it's a very dear friend of mine who has been a teacher's aide for my son kevin and we became close friends.

Facial Beauty
I did this Facial Beauty drawing today while my hubby was working on the car, lol.

I used a regular #2 pencil, and I just pressed heavier than usual.

Note from Kerry:
Hi Betsy
Isn't it lovely that your son has introduced special people into your life? I know your sons play a big part in your life and it's great that they continue to bring more joy to you through meeting these new people.

I can tell by your friend's eyes that she is a beautiful soul, too. You have done her justice when you produced such a lovely portrait drawing.

In your second drawing, Facial Beauty, I see you have added your touch to the eye highlights and it comes through perfectly.

Again, these are terrific portrait drawings by you, Betsy. I love your work and your special drawing style, so thank you for sharing it with us.

They are very alike, I think the main difference is the shape of the face. Both are pretty!

Gee, they are both good looking young men - I have no doubt they bring you much happiness. I think they would be proud of you too, seeing how you can produce such wonderful drawings.
