Dry Erase

Dry Erase

This is a drawing I did on a conference room white board using a dry erase marker. It was interesting to work with the dry erase markers as you more or less push the ink around.

I only had a black and blue marker to work with.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Jeff, what fun that is!! You produced a great image, I'm guessing you impressed your workmates? At least I hope someone got to see it before it was erased.

This is another one of those sketches I worked on today when I got a chance between projects. I enjoy adding the water features into my sketches as they are easy to incorporate.

Note from Kerry:
The water looks good, Jeff! I also like the effect on the mountains. Overall, a lovely drawing to study, thank you.

Blue Falls

falling blue

falling blue

Hi, This is another one of those quick sketches on a dry-erase board. My last one had a blue river, this time I wanted to try for a blue waterfalls. I really need to find a couple more colors, brown and at least green. It is really interesting to work with these. As with all my sketches, no erasing allowed. :)

Note from Kerry:

Hi Jeff,
This is great, you have managed to give the effect of a waterfall in so few lines - that's admirable stuff indeed!

Mountain Range

by Jeff
(Olympia, WA,USA)

Landscaped

Landscaped

This is a drawing of a mountain range. The sketch started as a simple mountain scene using the smaller mountain on the front left side with a few trees and I just started expanding to the right.

At the last minute I made the decision to add the background mountains as an experiment with just some basic shading.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Jeff
Your last minute decision gives the drawing real depth, it makes me feel like I am looking at an awesome sight. I've enjoyed it - once more - thank you!

A Mountain

A Mountain

This is a mountain scene that I wanted to share with you. I worked on it over a few days off and on while, again, waiting for my computer to boot.
I've been concentrating on adding more realistic detail to my mountains.

Note from Kerry:

Hi Jeff,
Your drawings are always wonderful to view and I am really happy you continue to explore different effects. You're doing great!

Sisters

Sisters

This is a mountain scene that I drew while I had a few minutes to experiment.

I am trying to introduce more shading in my drawings to give the scene a more realistic look/feel.

The original drawing is about 4" x 8".

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Jeff, it's great to see some more of your work. Your shading is excellent, it has definitely added dimension. I've always loved your drawings and this one is right up there.

Moon Rise

by Jeff
(Olympia WA USA)

Moon over my mountains.

Moon over my mountains.

This is a sketch I did on a piece of 3-hole notebook paper.
Sorry it is a little blurry it came from my phone,I folded the paper and by using another piece of paper to block the overhead light I was able to turn it into a night scene with the hole looking like the moon rising. The light is being reflected off the folder paper behind the hole.
Enjoy.

Reflections

Reflections

This is one of my first attempts at creating a scene being reflected into a calm lake. I have seen other drawings that looked really cool and I thought I would give it a try.

This is a simple sketch with not to many items, the method I used for this was to flip the sketch upside down and draw the reflected image.

artist
Note from Kerry:
Hi Jeff
Reflections make fascinating drawings don't they? I really like your latest creation, you've done a terrific job of it.

Thanks for the tip on how you managed to successfully mirror the image too, I am sure many people will benefit from it.

2 Lakes and a River

by Jeff

Falls between

Falls between

Hi, This is a drawing I did this past weekend just messing around.

I am going through a 2 mountaion top phase and always enjoy adding a little water.

I don't plan my drawings but just kind of let things fall into place. If it looks like a lake could go there, it does.

Enjoy.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Jeff,
That's what makes all of your drawings so enjoyable -- the fact that they just flow from your pencil. This is a great study, as always.

Mountains

Here is a sketch I created to experiment with creating more realistic looking mountains. Trying to use various levels of shading. Enjoy.

Note from Kerry:
Hi Jeff
I am so pleased you are keeping with your unique style of drawing even though you are experimenting with shading etc. Sometimes it's easy to lose our way. I love your drawings, each one speaks to me and I think you're doing a great job seeking that final result that you want.

Nature on an envelope

by Jeff
(Olympia WA USA)

Mountains and water

Mountains and water

I was just messing around doodling on an envelope the other day and wanted to share this with you. This is one of my favorite types of scenes to sketch, mountains and water.

artist
Note from Kerry:
Hi Jeff
Building your drawing around the face of the envelope has only added more charm, in my opinion. This type of scenery is also a favorite of mine. Love it!

Slopes

Slopes

This is a quick sketch I did using only the side of a mechanical pencil 5mm lead. It worked good on the shading and creates soft mountains.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Jeff
Your drawing is very good, I liked it immediately.

Blind Lake

This is another scene I drew on a small piece of an old plastic white window blind.

I enjoy doing these types of small drawings and sharing them with you.

Enjoy.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Jeff
I am really pleased you like to share them here because I always love to see what you've been doing. Who knows, you just might inspire someone to start drawing on their furniture!

I love this drawing, it ranks up high as a favorite, it is definitely peaceful. Well done!
