My husband

My husband.....

My husband.....

I am a self taught artist. Only recently have I really became serious with my drawings and aimed to produce more life-like drawings.

This is actually only my 5th portrait drawing. I see improvement with each and every one I finish.

I did this portrait from a photo I took of him with my digital camera.

I framed it along with the others I did of our 2 children and I. It was his birthday gift from me. So he now has the whole family drawn and framed on the wall.... :~)

I welcome any comments and recommendations as to where I need to improve.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Sheryl, wow, what can I say? I think it's fabulous and so very well done. Thanks for answering my questions (removed), I have added your response to your story above, thanks Sheryl.

Hello, Revathi
Thanks for the compliment...it boost my confidence to hear such nice things about my drawings. I am a perfectionist so I always see flaws in everything I do.
I encourage you to dive into the portrait world...it is so rewarding. Look me up on facebook....Lynn Boivin Pencil Artist and I will be happy to help you along the way. It will be a lot easier to be in contact that way.
First you need to find a picture that is clear and close up and make sure you choose one that really strikes you. I hate drawing something that I really am not into. It just always ends up lacking the life it needs. Keep in touch and I will be happy to answer any questions.

Hello Norge,
Thanks for your kind compliment. To answer your questions....I always draw from pictures, haven't tried doing a from a model yet. It took me about 12 hours to draw this portrait but I can spend up to around 20 to 30 hours on one with more hair and details on clothing, etc....
I will be happy to answer any drawing questions anyone may have, I am on facebook and can be in contact with you that way to help. Just look up....Lynn Boivin Pencil Artist.
When I draw from pictures just make sure they are good clear ones and close up too. This way you can get more detail from the photo. That makes a really big difference.

To answer the question above....yes, I use watercolor pencils also and I will post a few of those now.
I am still learning to work with the watercolor pencils and hope to improve as time goes.

Hubby

Hello, Sheryl Lynn Boivin;

I only believe that you need to show us more of your great God-given talent. Have you ever thought of using coloring in your drawings?

It was just a thought I had about it. I saw a lady years ago draw a portrait of her cousin and then she colored it in and wow what a difference it made. Please show us more.

Kind Regards
Marty!
