Mountain Retreat

Mountain Scene

Mountain Scene

This is a quick doodle I did using a black sharpie. No erasing allowed.

I have never been to Yosemite but I have seen pictures and tried to implement some of the features that probably exist there, such as the steep cliff.

***Note from Kerry:
It's great work with the Sharpie, Jeff. I love the challenge that ink presents, it's admirable work.

Trees By A Stream

Waiting for Spring.

Waiting for Spring.

This was actually drawn using a blue ink pen. But when scanned in black and white it really made a difference.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Jeff, I agree that black and white drawings have a special appeal that sets them apart from the rest. I don't know why, I just love them. This drawing is lovely.

Day and Night

Day and Night

I used a picture I have hanging on my wall as the inspiration to draw this scene.

I thought that using the negative feature in irfanview (image program) created an interesting perspective so I included them both side-by-side.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Jeff!
You are right, the 2 side by side look stunning. The negative looks really fantastic. I love your drawing.

In between 2 scense

This is a drawing I did on a old plastic window blind which is about 12" by 2.5". Scanning it kind of blurs the details but I wanted to share it.

I enjoy drawing on anything and my hobby space is full of little murals like this one. Enjoy

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Jeff,
What a great idea to draw on a window blind! It's awesome.

A Mountain and Waterfalls

by Jeff
(Olympia)

Stepping down.

Stepping down.

This drawing is similar to a previous entry I submitted. I did not notice until I was done and looked at my other entry.

Here I continued to experiment with trying to make the rocky walls and ledges look real. The stair step waterfall is fun to draw as once you determine where it will flow you can build the landscape around it.

This is another one of those drawings I did in 10 mins while on hold.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Jeff, I hope you are keeping your "doodles" together in a sketchbook, they really are exceptional and interesting. If they are on scraps of paper, you can always paste them into a book for safe keeping.

Night Vision

Night Vision

This is using the NEGATIVE feature in irfvan view. It is the negative of an earlier submission. I did this to some of my other drawings and the effect is amazing!

***Note from Kerry:
I recognized it straight away, Jeff. It does look really good doesn't it?

Irfanview is a nice, easy image program to work with, it is one of my favorites. I talk about it on the free programs page.

Bald Cap Mountain

Campsite found!

Campsite found!

This is something I drew up while in a pretty boring class some years ago.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Jeff, "they" say that artists are never bored. It looks like you had a nice time while everyone around you would have been bored!

This drawing is great, especially since you consider it to be like a doodle. Well done!

Here is a drawing that I did with palm trees on a deserted island.

Hi Jeff, this is so nice. You could frame all of your drawings and give them as gifts. They really are treasures.

Group of trees

(Olympia)

Trees

Trees

This is quick drawing I did experimenting with depth to try and make them look like they are not just in a row.

I added the mountains in the back because, you know, I like to draw mountains.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Jeff, another trick when drawing in perspective is to have the image at the front as the largest one and then gradually reduce them as they recede into the distance.

It's good to see you are experimenting!

Mountain Paradise.

Mountains and trees are my favorite things to draw.

Imagine being the first settler to come upon a valley like this. Enjoy.

***Note from Kerry:
Thanks for setting the tone to your drawing, Jeff. I felt the beauty as I gazed over the valley for the first time. It's a great drawing, thank you for sharing with us.

Hike in only

Hike in only

This is a drawing that took a little bit of time filling in all the trees and maintaining a good perspective view.

It reminds me alot of looking over at Mount Rainer from the top of Crystal Mountain ski resort. Nice place to camp up at the lake.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Jeff,
It's great to hear from you again.
Your drawing is magnificent and surely worth framing. I love the effect on the mountain, your efforts were not in vain. Good job!

Stamp of approval

Stamp of approval

This is another one of those, on the phone, on hold, give me something to draw on while I wait, drawings. I found an envelope.

Thought it kinda looks like it could be a state stamp. Enjoy.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Jeff
This would make a beautiful stamp alright. It's easy to see that drawing transports you to another place.

Edge of Wilderness

This is a drawing of a waterfall in the mountains as I imagined it could look like.

I started with the mountain peaks in the background and expanded over the ledge from there. Enjoy.

***Note from Kerry:
Jeff, I love your drawing style! It is great that you can draw like this from memory.

Winter Mountain

Winter Playground

Winter Playground

In this drawing I wanted to give the impression of a mountain area with plenty of ski runs to play on.

It reminds me of a view I once saw standing on the top of a ski resort run and looking over at the adjacent resort on the mountain next door.

I like drawing trees and this gave me quite a workout.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Jeff, I like your drawing ... as usual!! You must have great patience which is worth it when you can produce work like this.

A Mountain Scene

This is a simple mountain scene I drew.

With each drawing I try to experiment with different techniques.

It is really nice to have a space to share these drawings. Enjoy.

It's really nice that you take the time to share them here, thank you! I love gazing at your drawings, they bring peace.

Mountain lake with a view

Mountain lake with a view

I was looking out the window today at the new snow on the distant Olympic mountains and it inspired me to take 1/2 hour out of my day to do what I enjoy most.

I experimented with reflection in the water.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Jeff! As always, I get pleasure from viewing your latest creation.

Mountain Bridge

by Jeff
(Olympia)

Bridging the gap

Bridging the gap

The intention of this drawing is to give the viewer the feeling of standing on an adjacent hill or viewing from a helicopter and looking in to the next valley.

Imagine coming upon this bridge in the middle of a hike, would you cross it? Enjoy.

***Note from Kerry:
Hey Jeff, thanks for taking me on the hike with you! Er, I'm not really sure I would cross that bridge but I'm happy to view it from my chopper. I love your drawing, thank you!

Sunset While You Wait

Hi, This a drawing I did while on hold for 15 minutes with my bank. I started with the horizontal line added the sun and went from there.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Jeff, talk about using your time constructively! It's fantastic, I love it. It was drawn from your subconscious to indicate that time was marching on.
