Nearly A Horse

It's Nearly A Horse

It's Nearly A Horse

I have only tried to draw the heads and shoulders of animals up to now. Here is my first attempt at a full horse.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Ken,
Animals present a good drawing challenge, don't they? I think you've achieved a good likeness.

Do you wait overnight and then view your work again, on the next day? That is the part I love the most. I experience wonder that I drew that, and also I notice any errors that weren't obvious while I was involved in the drawing.

You can use your pencil to measure the size of the head in relation to the body, and to the legs. Then make little dots on your paper and map out the outline with these crude measurements. I find that helps.

I've said it before - I like your style!

Great Drawing

Did you draw this in ink? For a lot of people, it's hard to draw a horse in pencil! Great job! I think the tail could have looked more natural. Instead of a straight line a horse will usually have varying lengths of hair. This is a wonderful horse, and I think you should draw more of them.
