Drawing Eyes

If these eyes can talk

If these eyes can talk

I did this with a regular #2 pencil, using my fingers to shadow, but used a regular ball point pen to detail the eyes. i just wanted to see what i came up with without ruining the drawing, but i love the outcome.

Note from Kerry:
That's a great experiment to share thanks Betsy. I agree, the end result looks great -- very effective.

Facial beauty

by betsy
(nj)

I did this one today, taking more time than usual, putting it down, coming back to it and adding more details.

In general this actually took almost 2 hours, but the outcome was well worth it.

This was done in #2 pencil.

Note from Kerry:
Hi Betsy
I think this is lovely, I really like the way you have portrayed the eyes... perfect artwork!

Eye See You

by betsy
(NJ)

This is a drawing that I did today.

I used a #2 pencil and pen on the eyes, to give them my flair. (That's why most of my drawings have "eyes" in the title... lol!)

Note from Kerry:
Hi Betsy
Everytime I look at your drawings, I am entranced! This one is no exception, you've done a lovely job - Eye think so anyway, heh!

Elizabeth Taylor

from 1950s

from 1950s

I saw this in a magazine of Elizabeth Taylor in her glam days in early 1950s.

Note from Kerry:
Gee Betsy, you've done a fabulous job!

Glistening Eyes

by betsy
(nj)

I did this drawing for a friend, I just added a glisten to her eyes.

artist
Note from Kerry:
Hi Betsy,
You and Yvonne have suddenly gone all quiet on me and you're not sharing much news on your page. I love to read everything there is to know about each and every drawing you do, so please don't be shy to tell me more!
I think you've done a terrific job of adding moisture to the eyes, it is so realistic.

Smiling eyes

by betsy
(nj)

This one i did today with a different technique. I didn't shade in my usual way (qtip), just loved how it turned out.

artist
Note from Kerry:

You're right Betsy, it turned out just great! What did you end up using for shading?

Stippled Eye Drawing

by betsy
(NJ)

Eye am tired

Eye am tired

I did this today, totally by hand. I stippled the entire eye with a black gel pen and my hand is hurting now, lol.

There are a million tiny little dots that I drew making this picture (no, I didn't count how many dots it took, lol, I guestimated).

artist
Note from Kerry:
Hi Betsy,
Wow, now that is what I call patience! Actually, I love stippling and the effect that it creates. I think you've done a good job and I'm glad you took the time to do it.

Time on my hands

by betsy
(nj)

I saw this in a catalog, and didn't detail the clothing but found the face and hair as flowing as my pencil was drawing it.

artist
Note from Kerry:

Hi Betsy,
I would love my pencil to produce something like this in idle moments!

Amazing Eyes

by Betsy

This one I really focused on the highlights in the eyes, making them shine.
Hope you all enjoy.

artist
Note from Kerry:
You succeeded Betsy! The eyes definitely drew me in as soon as I looked at it. Lovely.

With this one i did alot of detail, in only a 1/2 of a face.

Note from Kerry:

Betsy, it is really good and it makes such a great study. Well done!

The age of innocence

by betsy
(nj)

I saw this picture of this baby and had to draw it. I absolutely love how it came out.

artist
Note from Kerry:

Betsy, it gives me joy to see how much pleasure you derive from your artwork. Easy to work out why, really, when I see the standard you easily establish each time you hold a pencil. I think your drawing is beautiful.

Another different technique

by betsy
(nj)

I love to experiment with different techniques. This was done today with just a regular #2 pencil and a heavier hand, lol.

artist
Note from Kerry:

Hi Betsy,
I agree, experimenting is a blast. She turned out great, too, I like it!

Elegant Glance

by betsy
(nj)

I did this while my sons were sleeping on my bed.
It was a combination of a picture from a magazine and my own flair.

artist
Note from Kerry:
Hi Betsy
This is so lovely! All the more admirable because it's a creation by you, thank you. (Love the title!)

i did this one today, mainly to make Mike drool lol

artist
Note from Kerry:
Hi Betsy
I think you will succeed getting Michael to drool! He is incorrigible, no doubt about it. She is pretty and it's a great drawing.
