Scruffy Dog
As I said in my last upload called Portrait of My Horse, I am very passionate about animals and I enjoy nothing more than sitting down with a pencil and seeing what I can create.
Since my last upload I have purchased some of the recommended drawing ebooks on this site and have had some fun experimenting with them.
Scruffy Dog is a drawing that I am particularly proud of as it combines the features of two of my own dogs. I took the original idea from a picture that I came across in one of the ebooks, and just made one or two adjustments.
The dogs outline was drawn using a standard HB pencil, and the shading was created using very light strokes of a soft 2B pencil, which were then blended together using the side of my thumb.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
***Note from Kerry: Lisa, it's such a pleasure to see your drawings and watch you grow as an artist. I can see your style emerging and I think you are doing just great.
You could try using a tissue or a cotton tip for blending. Our skin contains oil and it could stain your paper with time. It would be a shame to see your work get ruined.
Good job! I can't wait to see your next adventure. Thanks for sharing, Lisa.
