Shebra Lady by Elaine Hancock
My name is Elaine and I am a self taught artist.
It all happened back in 2004, when I tore ligaments in the right knee. I could not believe that I had to sit down so long without being able to get up and down as fast as I wanted. I then realized that I had to find something to do that would consist of sitting down for long periods of time.
I choose drawing, because when I was a little girl I would draw all of my paper dolls and their clothes and build houses out of shoe boxes and cardboard.
My seven year old son was drawing very well at the time and also, he inspired me. Because I could not afford an Artist School, I joined North Light book club and ordered the books that caught me interested.
I love to draw portraits and fashion, but I try to draw everything in order to find your gift. In 2008, I started to paint and I love it. Don't just draw, do everything and have fun doing it.
***Note from Kerry: Hi Elaine, I used to love creating paper dolls and their clothes, too! It looks like you have discovered a true talent within yourself. I'm so pleased to see you are enjoying the best hobby in the world!
