Thinking

My Dad and I work on one picture and copy as close as we can. Once we are both done, he gives me a lesson on what I should do next time.

I tell him what i like and didn't like about his...like, on his, I really didn't like his eyelashes. But, his shade was better...so that's what we have been doing to get better.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Stacey, that's a great way (and fun!) to improve and learn. This drawing is really good.

Wonderful !!!
by: Mary Z

Hi Stacey, When I opened up this site and saw the your drawing, the first thing I said was "WOW". I think the sketch is very beautful and I wish I hAd half the talent you do.
I love to draw but I am only at the level that a third grader would have. I contnue to draw and my work is getting better and better.
I am so glad I found this site because I'm sure I will learn a lot.

MAY GOODNESS AND PEACE PREVAIL

Respectfully, Mary Z

good job!
by: john o'brien

the details of the small skin folds over the eye add agreat realistic touch.the line outlining her right nostril is an easy trap to get in. we don't see a line but want one to delineate between surfaces. i'd suggest to do that with shade changes. what are the dots? freckles? they're really tricky as they must apear to folloe th contours of the facial surface. they can add depth and an imaginary third dimension, which is what we're all trying to do, but they are difficult to keep from apearing to be on a flat plane. but this is a great job. i think the eyes are great!

this is how i draw so good...First I find a pictire that I like, then I blow it up and make the photo black and white with my computer..or you could use a copier.

I have a light table that I use to trace the outline of my picture, very lighty. This might sound like cheating but you can worry less about how the drawing doesn't look like the picture..and just put a lot of detail in the drawing.

Another tip: don't have any hard lines, shade and blend. I use kleenex, cotton balls. shading tools..that's how they look so real.

Too Realistic

I can never draw something that looks that real without adding darker shadows. I love the detail!
