Girls

This is a pair of sketches that I''ve made in the last week. I have never been any good at drawing portraits but something has changed lately, and i am very pleased to see my own progress.

I want to sketch and paint like all day long, and night ;)

Note from Kerry:
Hi Aletheia
I know the feeling about wanting to sketch all day and all night - isn't it exciting?
I hope that something happens to my portrait skills just like it happened to yours, wow, these are good! It's only a matter of practice and what we want to achieve, isn't it? I'm so glad you reached your goal.

..u michael and sharon for your kind words :)
since i put my first girls here, a lot has happend. i have done many drawings , sketches and paintings, and even taken out old works and i see them with new eyes and that is amazing, i am also showing much of my work on the internet and it is very inspiring and the feedback is a boost :)
i even sold 2 of my work, so the future is bright, and i put another drawing on this page but it hasn't come up yet.

Right....
by: Michael Betz

Sharon is absolutely correct. You will get nowhere comparing your work with that of the works of another. Everyone has their strong points, and their weak points. Some people have recieved much more training than others, and some have a natural talent that is only God given. No matter what, you are your own person, your own artist with your own way of doing things and your own way opf looking at things. That is why, you give a picture to 3 different artists, and you will get 3 different interpretations of the subject.
And as late as this is...thnak you Kerry, you are so sweet.

Your work is fantastic, girl! Why running your ta;lent down?? To put the thought to paper is a skill that only artists can do, and you're one of them. Practice makes perfect, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with your idea. NEVER compare your works to another artist' works, because you are your own idividual and your interpretation of a woman/girl face is terrific. You'll never gain self-confidence by comparing your work to others. Instead, give yourself a good pat on the shoulder, because you deserve it for your nice effords!

Marty; thanks! i have shared a couple of my other portraits and a painting so are just waiting for them to show up here :) hope u like them too.

Michael; Thank u! i'm not going to put any of my "bad" portraits for comparing here but i am just so happy for this kind of miracle that i now can make portraits that i can't stop looking at my self..
i have had an pretty long period with no creativity that resulted in something i was pleased with, but now on the other hand i can't stop :) hope you'll get your flow back :)
