More Landscapes and Seascapes

by Sharon Du Plessis

These paintings are all done in oils. I discovered texture-paint, and was I impressed what it can do for a painting! This double-panel painting was done in oils and the for trees, I used texture-paint, and look at the texture of the bark on the trees! I was very proud of my accomplishment/s, because my passion for painting/drawing, is endless...!

tough question
by: Kerry

Hi Sharon
I agree with Michael and his wise advice for you.
I am certainly not in a position to teach anyone how to draw but I can pass on any knowledge I do possess to those who are interested.
An art teacher faces the difficult task of not inflicting their own taste and method onto students -- the student has to discover what is within them and to flow with that rhythm. It is that inner quality that a teacher must tap into and nurture.
If you are confident enough to teach then there is nothing to stop you!

Qualified....
by: Michael Betz

Hey Sharon, again great pieces. I like your colors, especially in the third one, of the door area. As for teaching....why not? Some would say I am not qualified to "teach", but I am teaching my daughter....so I say, and this is just my opinion, start with your own daughters, see how they learn. If you teach them well, then offer classes to others. This way, it will help you develop a ciriculum before you have paying students in front of you as well. Just a thought...one man's opinion. Besides, we all know free advice is worth what you pay for it....hehe.

Thank you, Kerry, for you inspiring words. The one with the 2 pannels, I will upload shortly. Just excuse the quality of the fotos, but I can asure you the paintings itself is much good-looking than the photos! I have a question: My husband encourages me also to give art/drawing classes for beginners, do you think I'm good enough for that?, because I do think I am. I'm just very nervous about a big step like that, and my one friend (she's a big critic) think I don't quallify for this. I beg to differ. Please give me your observation, seeing my twin daughters are going to be my first students, and they admire painting and drawing!
