Personal Project Update 1

by Michael Betz
(Las Vegas)

Here is an update to the Personal Project I uploaded a couple of days ago.
This is showing the end part of Phase 2, which is the foam characters.
In the second picture, I have a pretty good start on Phase 3, the coloring of the background and adding characters as I go along.
By the end of today, I ended up pretty much all done with the main layer of color. I used Kodak Yellow, White, Derwent Studio (Deep Vermillon, Crimson Lake, Ivory Black, Grass Green, and Orange Chrome).
From the Gallery pencils I used, 4 shades of Green, 2 shades of Blue, 2 shades of Yellow, Red, and Brown.
For the drawing portions I used nothing but my 2B mechanical pencil.
All together so far, with what was accomplished today, I'm about 9 hours into it so far. Next step, is adding details, shading, and a few surprise attempts......

Note from Kerry:
Michael, this was a lovely surprise! It looks brilliant! Man, you are gooood.

Thank you.....

Thank you Kerry. I got the inspiration for this while my family and I were out for the First Friday event earlier this month. I saw a painter that added 3D objects under the paint, and it just looked so while I was at Michael's (a big art supply store here), I saw these foam sheets, and thought.....hhmmmmmmm???? So I picked up a pack and started this. I will probably end up giving this to my daughter, Jayme. Oh, Kerry did you ever get the submission of mine with the first three pictures of this project? It should be titled Personal Project.....I submitted them a few days before I submitted these 2.......
