Sith Lord

by Michael Betz
(Las Vegas)

This was almost a casualty of my "Incomplete" collection...it was saved by my kids. They really wanted me to finish it...so...had to keep them happy.

This was done with 3 different pencils, 4 sizes of blending stumps and 2 types of erasers. It was a bear and a half to keep this from smearing even with a plain piece of paper.

All together it took me maybe 30 minutes to draw it out, but several hours to shade and render. Oh, for those that may not know, (although I am not sure who wouldn't) this is a character from Star Wars named Darth Vader.

***Note from Kerry:
Hey Michael, God Bless the kids! You've done a mighty job of Darth Vader (yep, even I knew who it was at first glance!) and it looks absolutely worth framing. It's awesome, mate!

I like to every now and then, browse the drawing books that my kids bring home from the library...some of those drawings are actually pretty good.

This one was in a sci-fi drawing book, I am sorry, I do not remember the book or the artist now, I know, I feel horrible about that too.....but here is my Spider Queen inspired from that book.....

***Note from Kerry:
Hey Michael,
You've done a great job here! She's icky.

Don't worry about the copyright thing, you're not trying to sell it so all is good.

Just as much as I love Batman...I feel the same for Star Wars.

I have been drawing Star Wars pics since 1977...and still love doing them.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Michael, your drawing is fantastic! Do you use a ruler or do you prefer all freehand drawing? This is so neat!

World's Away

World's Away

I have always been a huge Sci-Fi fan. To travel to distant world's would be the ultimate road trip.

I got this one from one of the many drawing books that I have looked at with my kids. My daughter seems to be following in my footsteps. My son is trying to, but my daughter seems to have a knack for it.

But, back to this one, I just really liked the layout, and so I had to do it.

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Michael, I also like this type of layout. Your drawing has a certain charm to it as well as lots of things to explore.

It's great that your children like to draw, keep encouraging them and they'll thank you later.

Exploration

by Michael Betz
(Las Vegas)

This was a picture in one of my kids drawing books. I just liked the look of it. I did alter it in some ways.

Again, as always, just a mechanical pencil and blending sticks. I hope you enjoy!

***Note from Kerry:
Hi Michael,
The love of the mechanical pencil does bind us, even if we do live way across the pond (as you called it!). I really like it!
