Draw A Bird

Upclose and intense

I drew this bird drawing from 1am to 4am this morning. I just had fun with it.

I used a 2b and extra black pencil, a kneaded eraser and tortillion on 80lb paper.

I found this picture online. I did however make it back to bed at at 5am, lol.

I also used an effect when I took the picture called the spotlight effect.

Note from Kerry:
Hi Michelle
It's so great to see you back here. Are you still in your camper van? It must be lovely to get up in the middle of the night and draw, and then have the freedom to go back to bed. Lucky duck, I say.

I am enjoying watching your experiments with photography - this spotlight effect is so good and it really highlights the simplicity of your awesome drawing. I love it!

It looks like a drawing that any beginner artist can copy and then when they take a longer look, your drawing will also teach them about blending and technique. That's why I named it "Draw A Bird" (hope you don't mind!) so if anyone searches for how to do that, they may come upon your drawing here. It looks like magic.

Thanks for thinking of us, hope to see you again soon. xx

Lilly, you are very funny - I got a great laugh out of your comment!

Michelle, so it's back to the rat race for you! I hope you settle in ok. Thanks for answering my questions - I'm a sticky beak, aren't I? (Is that Aussie slang? ...Just in case it is, it means I don't mind my own business!)

Sue, it's a great idea to print out Michelle's drawing. Maybe you can paint a replica of it on one of your pavers? There's got to be some way that works as a deterrent. That would be a cool idea to try, anyway. I remember Denice painted a lily on the tiles and I thought it was awesome.

A Big Bird

Michelle, your "bird" is so realistic that I think I will print it off and hang it around the pool. Maybe the starlings will stay away then.
