A Beginner's Attempt

I've finished a drawing, and 2 things happened.

I showed my friends and they said it could be better.

The other thing is that I want to get better, but I can never find the right website to help tell me where my strengths and weaknesses are.

I'm working on Manga (anime) drawings.

There was a third thing that happened -- just by finishing the drawing, you are improving all the time. To become good at drawing, it only takes time and practice. Your drawing is great! Keep going!

Even expert artists can improve on their drawings but it only happens if they continue to draw.

I like your drawing. It clearly shows that you understand body types, lines to denote the placement of shadows, good persective view. You can only get better with every time you draw...so go get em'.............

Hi Matthew.
Thanks for sending in your picture, it looks great for a first time drawing. Don't ever let anybody discourage you. Although I haven't posted any comments or pictures I think this is the best Art site you could get. Kerry encourages and gives a positive response to every drawing as does Marty and other artist. I find more pleasure in this site then any other that I go on.

I believe that the most important thing about drawing is that you have to enjoy it. If you enjoy drawing, then it's easy to ignore negative comments. I like your drawing. Just continue drawing. You will find that you will improve with every picture that you draw.

Hello Matthew:

Well Matthew as far as the person that said it could be better, did the person sketch a drawing to show you how good or not as good as you did.

My artwork to me is never any good as I always see room for improvement. A lot of times nothing turns out any good after working on the drawing for it seems like 2 or 3 hours. And sometimes I just stop working on any drawings.

However you will never see your dreams come true if you listen to some people that don't know what they're talking about.

Matthew, I am glad that you posted your fine piece of great artwork here at Kerry's website. She always cares about all the artists that post on her site. And I will tell you what, just ask all the artists that are on this great website and they will tell you how proud they are of all the other artists.

If you have any problems just ASK and one of the artist and Kerry herself will always provide all the help they can.

So, my friend give it a try and another try and another and you will know that you have found a home here with all your drawings and or artwork.

I just love your drawing just the way it is, it shows how much you love to draw.
