Marty's Pirate Contest
by rachel
(england)
I liked the idea of the contest so here I am.
I know that it's not great but I just sat drawing and this is what came out.
***Note from Kerry: Hi Rachel, You're drawing is unreal. I wish I could sit down and produce something like this!

Broken Mask

(england)
Hi, this is my first time on here. I'm 16 and love to draw because it's the only time for me that I can show my thoughts and emotions freely.
This took me a couple of hours, I know it's not finished and needs touching up quite a bit but I was happy with how it was turning out.
***Note from Kerry: Welcome Rachel! I see you finally managed to upload your drawing -- thank you so much for persisting because your drawing is unbelievably awesome! Wow. Please keep drawing, you are gifted.

Hand
by Rachel
(England)
It's my first attempt at a hand so I just tried to draw it from a picture that I found. It hasn't really copied very well, but I was happy with how it turned out for a change!
I didn't really know where to put this one.
***Note from Kerry: Rachel, it is so nice to read that you are happy with your artwork! Hands are particularly hard to master because they have so many moving parts. You have done a great job!
When in doubt, always go for "Pencil" drawing category, I reckon! I don't wish for you to worry about whether it's the right section or not, it can always be changed later.

Eye Spy

I drew and painted these from the images shown with them. I love to draw people or facial features to try to capture the emotion in them. (fingers crossed it worked)
***Note from Kerry: Hi Rachel, I love this page of yours! It's wonderful to see your reference picture along with your interpretation of it. You are only 16 and the work you can produce is amazing. I think it's great that you have chosen art as your "escape".

Skull Drawing
by rachel
(england)
For my art coursework my project was day of the dead. This is my favourite piece from it, one of my only drawings that I liked.
My final piece was a 5x3' black and white skull painting.
***Note from Kerry: Rachel, your skull drawing is so good! I hope you always keep drawing as a part of your life. It's so easy to let it slide but you have a gift that can't be wasted.

Flames

This looks kind of like tattoo art to me. I'm not sure whether I like it or not but I just thought it was something a bit different.
Note from Kerry: Hello Rachel!! It's so great to have you back visiting with us again!
I think your artwork is very good and I agree with you, it does look rather like tattoo art. It's very original, hope no one steals your idea...

Remains
by rachel
This is just a random doodle that turned into a skull without really thinking about it, I think that's why it turned out more cartoony than normal.
Note from Kerry: Hey Rachel, I think it's good. I like the little cross on there and I think that's where it reminds you of cartoons. It adds a bit more effect anyway.

Beauty?
by rachel
Hey guys, this is a kind of strange one. I know that it isn't a great drawing but it was more about the idea of it than getting it technically halfway decent.
I draw a lot of stuff kind of to do with this, but this is the first time that I ever got up the courage to show anyone before. Please don't judge it too harshly.
Oh and sorry for the bad photo, my scanner has some issues at the moment :)
***Note from Kerry: Hi Rachel No worries about the scanner, boy your equipment sure is temperamental! Actually, it kinda looks good this way.
So, it looks like a mind map of sorts. I love the sketch in the middle and I think overall it has good appeal! The little artist in you overcomes whatever else you are struggling with - and that's a good thing.
You are such a sweetie for sharing something so private, I hope we can repay your trust in some way.

I'm not crazy
by rachel
Ever feel like everyone is trying to convince you of something when everything else is telling you they're wrong? I felt trapped in my own head, so this is where all of my thoughts ended up.
Note from Kerry: Rachel, your drawing is very good.
I must tell you that you do not have to listen to anyone! You create your destiny and you rule your thoughts. You become stronger by working through problems and emerging as the person you want to be! The power of positive thinking is not a myth.

Chained Skulls
by rachel
(england)
This is just something a bit different to anything I showed before. I know it's not great technically but I liked the idea of it.
I draw when I can't sleep, so maybe that's why it turned out a bit strange. I hope you like it.
***Note from Kerry: Hi Rachel, Yes, this is very different but it's very good all the same. You have great skills.

Skull
by rachel
Hi everyone, I know this one isn't so great but I like things that are kind of dark so I wanted to show it.
The shading is very lazy but I don't want to change it now, it feels like it should be left. I hope you like it :)
***Note from Kerry: Hi Rachel, I don't think it's dark, I admire the artistic charm of this piece. It makes a great study. It has even more appeal because it looks like fabric which adds to effect imo.
Gosh Rach, you are a very good artist! Please keep creating!

Self Image
by rachel
I was asked to draw what I think of myself and what's happening around me and life in general and this is one of the things I came up with. I have put more writing on since but I think that's for my eyes only. I hope you like this, it is really personal to me.
Note from Kerry: You are right, Rachel, this is a very personal drawing so I am honored that you choose to share it with us. Girl, your artwork is terrific! Now we just have to work on getting those negative vibes out of you. You would be amazed how your outlook on life can change just by changing your thought patterns.

Mad
by rachel
I did this in pencil then picked out some detail and colour with wax. This is another one that was just to get out some emotions.
Note from Kerry: Hi Rachel, I have to ask out of curiosity, is it just your scanner that makes it appear brown? It doesn't matter, I quite like it, just interested to know.
Underneath all those emotions lies an artist who doesn't realize her own potential!!

Life and Death
by rachel
Hi everyone, I started this off last night when I couldn't sleep. I remembered seeing something like this and wanting to have a go.
It's not finished and it probably won't be now but I liked how it was turning out and it was waaay too long since I came on here. I hope you like it x x
***Note from Kerry: Hi Rachel So you drew this without a reference pic? That is really incredible! Sometimes artwork is more compelling when it isn't finished and this is just such an example.
I'm so happy to see some more of your art, thanks Rachel.

Demons

Hey everyone, wow it's been a while since I've been on here. Got out of hospital a week ago and I was just sitting here thinking about you guys so figured I'd post some of what I drew while I was away. This started out as a doodle, then just added random thoughts around it. I hope you like it x x
Note from Kerry: Hey Rachel, I'm sorry to hear you've been in hospital, that is not good news. I hope you are feeling much better now. Your drawing is very clever, you are a good artist.
