The idea for this drawing came about in my art class in my junior year of high school. I am now ending my freshman year of college, and this is still my most prized drawing.
Poker Hands is of five of my friends hands into a star, and its somewhat of a symbol of friendship because high and low points of stars can represent the ups and downs of friendships, but it is just a part of what it is all about.
The cards were apart of my friends and what we did on cold winter nights to pass the time, and that was to play poker at my house where the usual hangout spot was. And the wood is what my table looks like, and we have the same one to this day.
Although we have all moved on to bigger and better things, I'm sure we'll all remember the times that we had, sitting around my table after a good night of sled riding, playing some poker...some of us cheating, some playing serious, but all having a good time.
I am now in college for graphic design and am going to enjoy my summer by taking a break from working, and to really get into drawing and painting to get ready for my sophomore year of college.

It's very good Samantha, I can see why it's your favorite piece. That's such a nice keepsake and a great drawing idea.
