You Raise Me Up First attempt

"You Raise Me Up' are the lyrics to a Josh Groban song (If you haven't heard it, go to iTunes and get a copy--you will be glad you did).

After all the stuff going on I met another angel (Kerry being my first) at the hospital. A woman whose mother had similar problems and she had come up from Florida so was staying in the room. I was so overwhelmed with chores and she needed some work to earn some money. We bonded instantly.

So this drawing, done with a .5 mil mechanical pencil and a charcoal pencil, is dedicated to Tracy. The picture of the girl is just a sketch to give the idea of "girl". The hand I was proud of. I wish I would quit when I get done but I tend to piddle a picture to death. Somebody stop me. Let me know.
Sue

p.s. I redid the drawing because I was not happy with the girl in the Hand. The first drawing on this page is my second attempt.

Note from Kerry:
Hello sweet Sue
Your story is so beautiful, thank you! I can't think what I did to deserve such kind words or to be held in high regard but I am pretty touched all the same.

If you don't want to show the first attempt, please let me know and I will remove it. I think it's good to compare, to show how much we improve when we give something another go.

A good amount of artists tinker with their drawings so don't be so harsh on yourself about that little habit. That's why I use photocopy paper the most because it takes a wonderful amount of abuse from my eraser!

Hands
by: RobynHerself

Hands are hard, so you deserve a "hand" (applause) for this one!

I like the message as well. I did a painting based on an old photo of me as a baby, supported by my Daddy's hand. My tummy was in his palm so I could "fly". I called it "I Father's Hand." You have captured that same wonderful concept.

You do raise me up
by: Sue Bledsoe

Thanks guys for your encouragement. Michael, the darker lines are a result of the auto correct on Windows Photo Gallery. After I redid the girl, I decided to go au natural so to speak. I can do it both ways (uh, change the intensity of the color).
I am working or another color pic ( 2 actually), but I am having trouble with the black part on the cat's head. Maybe if I submit it, someone can help me.
Michael, my mother passed away Sept. 9, very peacefully. I have had a bad summer and wouldn't you know I would catch a bad case of bronchitis, so in spite of all I have to do, I must stay quiet and not get all coughy. I can really cough. So now maybe I can work on improving my "work".

Quiet....
by: Michael Betz

Man it is so good to see some new pages going up. It has been so quiet around here, I thought I was going to have to go rustle a few pages....Sue, your story is awesome! Hey, if you have anymore chores, I need some work...;) Your drawings are great, they catch the mood pretty well. I think I like your second one as well, but I like the darker lines on the first one.....yes, I am very familiar with that song...it is a good song. Kinda reminds me of Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler....another uplifting song.

Hi Sue
Oh, I definitely like your second attempt better too, sorry I forgot to say so. It's interesting though to see what comes out first time around and I can almost see your thought pattern on how you change it and make it as it is in your mind. Thanks for allowing your first attempt to stay up on the page, I admire that trait of yours.

The whole concept of the drawing is interesting and I think you are clever!

Show both
by: Sue Bledsoe

I think showing both is a good idea although I like the second attempt so much better. The first one is too cartoonish and I meant it to be a serious drawing. What do you think? Thank you.
Sue
